French high-end glass bottle manufacturer Saverglass inaugurates US$ 120 million plant in Jalisco

High-end glass bottle manufacturer Saverglass officially inaugurated its production facility in the municipality of Acatlan de Juarez, Jalisco, where the French company invested US$ 120 million and created 380 job positions to serve the huge spirits industry in the state.
The plant started operations last June. “We are very excited to now fully cater to the United States, the world's leading market for the consumption of premium spirits,” said at the time Loïc Quentin de Gromard, Chief Executive Officer of Saverglass.
“The proximity to Tequila, as well as the growth of consumption of premium tequilas especially in the United States, allows us to reach this market faster and serve the Central Americans and the Caribbean, from the ports of Manzanillo and Veracruz with containers, by road through Texas and by rail,” said Quentin, who has held the CEO position for 35 years.
“The United States grows a lot in the craft drinks market and this is a trend that has begun to spread around the world, which is helping us to create new products in our catalog that includes more than 250 designs,” added Jean Marc Arrambourg, general manager of Saverglass.
The company already has a portfolio of more than 50 customers that manufacture tequila, such as Diageo, Jose Cuervo and Beam Suntory, among others. Some of its clients in Mexico have been supplied for a decade now with imported products, but with the new plant delivery times will be reduced by up to two months.
The plant was built in less than a year in a 30-hectare green land, which is equivalent to 54 soccer fields. The facility is equipped with an oven that can produce glass with certain types of colors, with four production lines and a decorating plant with the latest technology for all types of customers.
“At the plant, we currently have an oven with a production capacity of 85,000 tons of glass per year, that is, 260 tons per day, which translates into some 600 million bottles per year,” explained Régis Maillet, Director of Marketing at Saverglass, who added that the company produces around 400 billion bottles worldwide each year.
With this plant, Saveglass expects to increase its bottle production capacity globally by approximately 12.5%. The company expects to close this year with US$ 530 million in sales.
