Heavy truck sales in Mexico down 4.9% during first quarter 2018
Last March retail sales of heavy vehicles were 3,318 units, a decrease of 8.5% over the same month last year. Following the same trend, but in a less pronounced way, wholesale sales reached a total of 3,368 units, which means 1.2% less than the same month of 2017.
Retail sales are those from the dealership to the end user, be it an individual or a transport company. Wholesale sales are those from the manufacturer to the dealership.
According to data from the National Association of Producers of Buses, Trucks and Tractor Trucks (ANPACT), from January to March, retail sales of heavy vehicles totaled 9,175 units, 471 less than during the same period of 2017, which represents a 4.9% decrease. Meanwhile, wholesale sales through March fell 1.8% to 8,004 units.
Separated by category, the cargo segment decreased 3.7% while the passenger segment fell 9.5%, compared to the same period a year earlier.
