Honda to Suspend Production of Ridgeline Pickup for 18 Months

Honda will suspend production of the Ridgeline midsize pickup for a year and a half at its plant in Lincoln, Alabama, because the model does not comply with current emissions regulations in the state of California, according to the website AutoNews.

The suspension will take place in the fourth quarter and will not resume until 18 months later, when the plant begins assembling a “significantly updated” (but not redesigned) version of the truck on the same assembly line, the report notes.

According to the report, the changes include a redesign of exterior parts and a revision of components, including an improved V6 engine that does meet the regulations and may share parts with the Passport SUV, which was redesigned last year.

The move aims to give the impression that this is truly a new generation of the pickup, a company executive told the trade publication. Here is the full article.
