The automotive industry in Mexico, like that of Canada and the U.S., believe that the original rules should not suffer any changes in the upcoming renegotiation of the NAFTA. The regulations established in the trilateral agreement indicate that products manufactured by member countries must have a minimum percentage of regional contents, that is, products made in any of the nations in the region of the agreement, in order to be exempted from customs duties, which for the automotive sector, may reach up to 62.5%.
