Almost two weeks after the flooding at the Honda assembly plant in Celaya, Guanajuato, local authorities reported that the drainage work has been completed, however, there is still no concrete date for the resumption of operations.

Guanajuato’s AM news outlet showed aerial footage of the facility completely clean, but it’s still unclear how the situation looks on the inside.

According to unofficial reports, the water level, which in most areas within the plant reached 1.5 feet high, caused damage to robots, machinery and equipment. Due to this, the rehabilitation works will be carried out throughout the month of July and probably part of August.

The Celaya plant, opened in 2014, is Honda's second in Mexico, after a car and motorcycle factory in the municipality of El Salto, Jalisco. It has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles among Fit compact hatchbacks and HR-V crossovers. There’s also a transmissions plant in the premises.
