Baja California registered a 39% increase in total production of fish and aquaculture, said the governor of the entity, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, during a meeting he held with the head of Secretaría de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural (Sader) Víctor Villalobos Arámbula.

Francisco Vega, explained that the increase in production happened while going from US$59.4 billion to US$82.6 billion during the current administration of that entity.

Nowadays, the fishing quota of the curvina golfina has been respected with the support of the Cucapás ethnic groups and producers of San Felipe, according to Sader.

Both officials agreed to continue with the work of management and efficiency in fisheries and aquaculture surveillance along the 1.555 kilometers of coastline that the state has.

They also analyzed the possibility of designing and implementing a specific program for the harvest of shoots to increase the number of hectares currently held and thereby support this important sector.

"We are sure that the productive projects that we will undertake for the entity will have a great regional and national impact," they agreed.
