Amports reopens its Altamira Port’s railyard

ALTAMIRA — After a little more than 20 years operating in the port of Altamira, the company of American origin, Amports, reopened its maneuvering yard dedicated to cars’ movement.

The company entered operations in Altamira in 1997 with the Grupo Centurión company and, from that moment, began to strengthen relations with the automakers installed in Mexico, until it reached about 1.5 million vehicles operated from that year until 2019, recalled Ernesto Ibarra, general director of Amports Mexico.

Amports forectast the investment of US$ 10.5 million in infrastructure and equipment for the attention of the automotive industry, providing storage and other services.

Through this investment, explained Ernesto Ibarra, the firm will have an installed capacity to operate 500,000 vehicles per year, aiming to close this year with over 300,000 export units through the port of Altamira, providing clients such as General Motors, KIA Motors, FCA and Mercedes-Benz.
