Jet fuel starts 2019 with an upward trend in Mexico

MEXICO — During the first two months of 2019, the average cost of jet fuel or “turbosina” went upwards compared to the same period of 2018.

 

The above, after in January-February the price of the turbosina at the International Airport of Mexico City (AICM) averaged $US1.27 per liter, which meant a rise of 7% compared to US$1.19 per liter averaged over the first bimester of 2018, according to an analysis carried out by Instituto Mexicano del Transporte (IMT) with figures from Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA).

 

However, in spite of the increase in the cost of turbosina, the rates behaved in a mixed manner.

 

The cost of the main route that connects the AICM with the International Airport of Cancun, in the first two months of the year closed with an average rate of US$213.83, a difference of    -8% compared to US$233.09 quantity that the route ended up with during the same period of the previous year.

 

The second route, which connects the AICM with Monterrey, also ended with a decrease. This after averaging at the beginning of the year a cost of US$232.36, which represented a decrease of 5% before the US$245.14 of 2018.

 

Meanwhile, the cost for the third route with the highest demand, AICM-Guadalajara, ended up with a rise, after reporting in January-February 2019 a price of US$220.65, 10% more than the US$200.95 of the previous year.
