Lego to expand its plant in Nuevo Leon

After meeting with Lego executives in Copenhagen, Denmark, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda indicated that the toy manufacturer is in the process of a new expansion, with an investment of US$508 million, at its plant located in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León.

This Lego plant is the largest in the world. To date, the Danish company has invested US$1 billion and the objective of this expansion is also to be the most sustainable plant by adding solar panels, batteries and a water reuse plant.

García Sepúlveda said in his networks that accompanied by Emmanuel Loo, in charge of dispatch of the Ministry of Economy, they visited Lego's headquarters in Denmark.

“They are very happy, in these three years of government they have already invested US$1 billion and are at this moment investing another US$508 million. They want to make the plant not only the largest in the world, but the most sustainable, with green energy. Of course we are going to help them,” he added.

The meeting with Lego representatives was to analyze possible collaborations in manufacturing, innovation and sustainability, highlighting the competitive advantages of Nuevo León as a strategic hub for global companies.

Carsten Rasmussen, Chief Operating Officer of Lego Group, expressed his appreciation for the governor's visit and highlighted the importance of collaboration with Nuevo León. This message will be conveyed to the company's Board, reinforcing confidence in the relationship with the state and the opportunities for joint growth.

This visit underscores the importance of cooperation between the government and the private sector to continue attracting investment, driving innovation and positioning Nuevo León as a global benchmark in manufacturing and sustainability.

The company has expanded its global presence with factories and distribution centers, including the one in Nuevo León. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Lego promotes digitalization and the use of recyclable materials.

The factory located in Ciénega de Flores, supplies the American continent's markets with Lego products, reaching more than 100 million families a year.
