Britta Seeger, Mercedes-Benz Global Sales Chief, confirmed to Automotive News the company plans to introduce a new entry-level A class sedan to the U.S. market.

The sedan is likely a production model of the design concept Mercedes-Benz unveiled in April at the  Shanghai auto show, and the same it showed to U.S. dealers last June during a private event in Florida.

The redesigned A class sedan is expected to be built at the Nissan-Daimler joint venture assembly plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, where Infiniti just started production of its all-new QX50 SUV.

"We truly believe that now with the body style we have the right answer for the market," Seeger told Automotive News. "It's a very attractive car for younger people," she said. "But not only for younger people — it can have a broad audience because it's a nice entrance into the Mercedes-Benz family."
