Mexico Expands Its Presence in Arizona’s Semiconductor Supply Chains

Mexico is looking to expand its participation in North America's semiconductor and advanced manufacturing supply chains through one of the United States' leading technology regions: Arizona.

For this reason, Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, visited Phoenix, Arizona, to sign a partnership agreement with Arizona State University, with the aim of promoting projects related to investment, innovation, technology, and the training of specialized talent.

The agreement was also signed by Michael Crow, president of ASU, with the aim of fostering cooperation in applied research, technological development, training, and the integration of North American digital supply chains.

ASU already has collaborative programs and projects with Mexican institutions that focus on microelectronics and semiconductors, aimed at students, faculty, and industry professionals, so this strategy contributes to its growth.

Ebrard attended several meetings with companies and organizations that  collaborate with Arizona’s technology ecosystem, as well as a meeting with the mayor of Phoenix, establishing partnerships with the semiconductor, critical minerals, chemical, electromobility, aerospace, water, and solar energy sectors.

This cooperation between Mexican suppliers and companies in Arizona is creating opportunities in both countries, particularly in areas where electronic components, specialized materials, energy infrastructure, and technical talent are needed.
