Mexico’s construction sector is recovering

After nearly two years of setbacks in operations, the construction sector has returned to growth; however, the current challenge is not a lack of projects, but rather the speed of execution, so that the economic benefits are fully reflected in national development.

“The challenge for 2026 is to ensure these resources are deployed more quickly on construction sites, replicate the most efficient implementation models, and expand private-sector participation—which will allow us to fully leverage the potential of the budget and the investment plan,” said Luis Mendez Jaled, president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC).

April 2026 marked a turning point, with a 10% year-over-year increase in production, accompanied by an 8.8% growth in construction investment.

The SICT reports 35% progress on its transportation and highway investment programs, with 1,590 projects promoting the participation of companies of all sizes.

Finally, Mendez added that the relocation infrastructure portfolio projects an investment of more than US$5.8 billion for 103 parks in 14 states, with time horizons ranging from 20 to 30 years.
