Puebla: Interested in joining the Olinia project

The auto parts and plastics industry sector of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) in Puebla has expressed interest in the Olinia Mexican electric vehicle project, at a time when around 200 local companies are already seeking to join its future supply chain.

The president of CANACINTRA Puebla, Carlos Sosa Spinola, confirmed that steps have already been taken to arrange meetings with project leaders, with the goal of identifying what types of supplies will be needed and under what conditions the local industry could become involved.

Spinola emphasized that the Olinia project is not yet in the contracting phase, and the ongoing discussions remain at an exploratory level, where the main objective is to align technical and economic expectations before defining any commercial relationship.

Furthermore, technological transition plays a key role in the process; while not all companies have yet developed specific capabilities in batteries and large-scale electrical systems, several have already begun adapting to electromobility, which opens up opportunities gradually rather than immediately.

For now, the business sector is monitoring the situation without any finalized agreements, but with a clear strategy: to position Puebla within the industrial discourse on electromobility in Mexico before the Olinia project enters its operational definition phase.
