Sinaloa: Begins a low-emission methanol plant

In collaboration with the government of Sinaloa and the municipality of Ahome, the Ministry of Economy announced the start of construction on the world’s largest ultra-low-emission methanol plant of its kind.

This is part of the Pacifico Mexinol project by the Transition Industries group and represents one of the most significant investments in the country’s recent history, totaling over US$3.3 billion; it will be located in Topolobampo, a port on the Gulf of California.

Mexico seeks to position itself as a strategic player in the low-carbon chemical industry and in the global energy transition under a model aimed at near-zero net emissions (Net Zero), through the use of carbon capture technologies, clean energy, and green hydrogen.

The signing ceremony was attended by Rommel Gallo, CEO of Transition Industries; the governor of Sinaloa, Ruben Rocha Moya; the Director General of International Affairs at the Ministry of Energy, Laila Porras; and the US Ambassador to Mexico, Ron Johnson.
