Spiros Philippas to become CEO of BMW Group Financial Services in Mexico

MEXICO – Starting in October, Spiros Philippas will be the new CEO of BMW Group Financial Services for Mexico and Latin America, responsible for delivering customer experiences and designing attractive and competitive financing plans for new and pre-owned BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles.

Spiros will take over from Matthias Schlesiger, who will take on a new challenge as CEO of BMW Group Financial Services in Malaysia.

Matthias Schlesiger has been a key player in Financial Services for BMW Group Mexico and Latin America. Under his leadership, since 2019, projects were developed and implemented that had as a priority to improve the user experience through digitalization and simplification of the customer experience.

In addition, the Customer Service Center was relocated to Mexico to offer extended service hours and continue to improve service quality in the region.

In addition, the team's vision was strengthened to focus on the essential needs of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad customers in order to align with the BMW Group's global strategy.

As part of this new professional stage and responsibilities within the company, Spiros Philippas will lead BMW Group Financial Services for Mexico and Latin America to continue the leadership within the premium automotive sector in terms of customer experience and digital solutions.

Spiros will report directly to Stefan Richmann, CEO of BMW Group Financial Services for the Americas region. He will have the opportunity to continue to expand the current financial solutions portfolio according to the needs of each market in the region, building on his sector expertise and deep industry knowledge.

Spiros Philippas has more than 15 years of experience in the organization. He started as Director of BMW Group Financial Services in Athens, Greece. Subsequently, in 2011 he was appointed President and Director of BMW Hellas S. A. as head of a sales unit in BMW Group in Greece.

In 2016, Spiros moved to Dubai to take the lead as Head of BMW Group Financial Services in the Middle East; where he has successfully introduced a new private leasing solution, as well as new financial, insurance and warranty products, supporting BMW Group sales in the markets of the Middle East region.
