Still no date to resume operations at Honda flooded plant

Works to resume operations at the Honda assembly plant in Celaya, Guanajuato are still under way, but a confirmed date has not yet been released since such tasks could take more than a month, said officials from the state's automotive cluster to local media.

The assembly plant of the Japanese automaker is inactive after the flood that happened a week ago. Unofficially, there is talk of damage in three facilities, both in machinery and in robots in the production line.

The halt has also affected suppliers, although not to the same extent. According to Alfredo Arzola, leader of the Cluster, there are 180 plants in Mexico that provide parts for Honda, of which 80 are in Guanajuato.

However, these plants serve other customers and this allows them to continue work, although there may be one or several production lines stopped.

Regarding the losses generated by the flood, the leader said that the plant produces about 40 units per hour, so it can be assumed that the impact will amount to several tens of millions of dollars.
