According to a report by Reuters, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is skipping key testing processes to launch its Model 3 sedan by a self-imposed volume production deadline of September.
Musk is using computer simulations to help Tesla in advancing straight to production tooling, a technique first used by Audi which allowed it to launch production at its Mexican plant 30% faster.
In fact, an Audi executive involved in the Mexican plant, Peter Hochholdinger, is now Tesla's vice president of production, says the Reuters report.
