Two logistics firms with presence in the U.S.-Mexico border said they’ve expanded their capabilities for cross-border operations in Laredo, Texas, anticipating an increase of demand for such services.
Last week Werner Enterprises, a transportation and logistics provider, opened a new office in Laredo, Texas. The company anticipates the office will create 50-100 new jobs within the next few years. The facility is complemented by Werner Logistics’ fully developed intermodal, brokerage, freight management and global portfolio service offerings in over 150 countries.
Also in Laredo, Texas, Yusen Logistics Americas Inc. announced it has secured a second warehouse to support the growing demand for import and export logistics services to and from Mexico.
By expanding its cross-border operations, Yusen Logistics is able to offer shippers increased warehouse capacity. The 43,000-square foot facility is located approximately three and a half miles from the company’s main campus. Between the two locations, Yusen Logistics now offers more than 150,000 square feet of warehouse space in the Laredo area.
“With more than 12,000 trucks crossing through Laredo every day, the opportunities are immense and with a second warehouse we are positioning ourselves to increase our market share, with a focus on the automotive logistics sector," said Ben Escarcega, Director, Integrated Solutions Group (ISG), Yusen Logistics.
The new warehouse features a 26-foot clear ceiling height, with 15 dock doors and 30 trailer parking positions. Services include warehouse distribution, U.S. customs brokerage, Intermodal and OTR transportation, and trailer parking spot leasing. There is also a Mexico customs broker onsite.
