UMC will invest US$65 million in Yucatan

YUCATAN — Auto parts manufacturer Uchiyama Manufacturing Corporation (UMC) will invest $ 65 million to build a plant in Yucatan, which will manufacture plastic parts for Mazda and Toyota in the United States.
This factory will generate 200 direct jobs and is expected to create a total of 1000 job positions over the next five years.
Uchiyama Manufacturing will be located at the Central Business Park in the Hunucmá corridor and will occupy an area of six hectares.
Static and dynamic seals or gaskets for engines will be manufactured, which will be exported to the United States, South America and Asia, by sea from the Progreso port.
It is important to mention that currently, UMC has 19 plants in Japan and 7 outside its country of origin, employing 22,000 people around the world.
