Volvo exports freight trucks from Nuevo León to the U.S

The automotive company Volvo began exporting cargo trucks manufactured at its plant in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León, through the Colombia-Laredo Customs Office, traveling along the new La Gloria-Colombia highway as a logistics route to the Texas border.

Marco Gonzalez, Secretary of Regional and Agricultural Development and Honorary Director General of CODEFRONT, announced the operation, highlighting the significance of this moment for the state and the consolidation of its logistics infrastructure.

The first shipment consists of four Volvo VNR 300 tractor trucks, day cab models, equipped with an optimized turning radius, high-performance diesel engines rated up to 455 HP, an automated transmission, and a lightweight chassis designed for maneuverability and safety.

The trucks will arrive in the cities of Ottawa and Kingston, in Canada, and will also travel through the United States after crossing the Nuevo León-Texas border. According to the current schedule, the tractor-trailers will arrive today at the MEXLOG yards, located on the grounds of the Colombia-Laredo Customs facility, to cross into the United States.

MEXLOG and Volvo have reported that the new highway was chosen for the trip due to its logistical advantages. Marco Gonzalez notes that export volume will grow gradually and that the brand’s production in the state will use the route as a strategic outlet to North America.
