VUTEQ Opens Second Plant in Guadalajara
The Japanese company VUTEQ has opened its second plant in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, as part of a new phase of expansion focused on strengthening the automotive supply chain linked to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Guanajuato.
The new facility incorporates large-format plastic injection molding machinery to manufacture and assemble components for the Toyota Tacoma, the pickup truck produced by Toyota in Guanajuato primarily for the North American market.
The expansion marks a significant step forward for the Apaseo el Grande-Celaya industrial corridor, a region that has established a strong presence within the Bajío automotive supply chain, primarily centered on Toyota’s operations and its network of Japanese suppliers.
During the inauguration, company executives emphasized that the project had required coordination between international technical teams and VUTEQ staff in Guanajuato, due to the incorporation of processes and machinery that the company was using for the first time for this type of production.
Shinji Yanagawa, CEO of VUTEQ, reported that this will be the first time the company has used injection molding machinery of this size to manufacture parts specifically designed for pickup trucks such as the Tacoma.
