Becton Dickinson invests US$9 million in Sonora

SONORA – Becton Dickinson (BD), a global medical technology company, announced the start of operations of its new manufacturing plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, in which it has invested US$9 million and expects to generate around 1,400 direct jobs.

This factory will produce medical devices for Mexico, the United States and Latin America and will concentrate on the manual assembly of infusion sets, which is a basic equipment for the supply of medicines for patients with COVID-19 and other health conditions.

This is the 11th plant of Becton Dickinson in Mexico and where it intends to support the growth of the state's economy and the country.

The new production complex is a key part of BD Mexico's supply chain, and will help free up 2,322 square meters (m2) of space at BD's plant in Tijuana, Baja California, where the infusion sets were being produced.

It is expected to support growth in other products and achieve goals that will help the company stabilize cost, quality and customer service.
