Nuevo León registers losses of US$355 million due to blackout
NUEVO LEON – Losses in the state industry generated by the blackouts of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) total US$355 million, evaluated the Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Caintra), since Nuevo León is one of the main electricity consumers nationwide and represents 29% of total gas consumption.
“The effects on state manufacturing production are immense. With only two days the state's manufacturing industry stopped, more than US$355 million were accumulated in production losses, an amount that continues to increase,” said the agency.
He explained that the effects presented stop the economic and export engine of Mexico, so forceful and urgent solution actions are required by the responsible authorities.
“The massive blackout is a severe blow to the industry and a great impact on the recovery strategy from the economic crisis,” said Adrián Sada Cueva, president of Caintra.
He added that this situation that is being experienced highlights the enormous importance and relevance of Mexico developing an energy development plan that gives certainty to our investments and fosters industrial growth.
