Chihuahua shows gold and silver decline

CHIHUAHUA – The state of Chihuahua reported a decrease in gold and silver production, while lead and zinc production showed a slight recovery in August 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.

This according to the Mining and Metallurgy Industry Indicators, which show that the state had a production of 1,463 tons of gold for July 2020 and 1,414 tons in July 2021, which means a decrease of -3.3%.

The largest decrease was in Durango (-10.5%), and the largest growth was in Sonora with 15.5% in this metal.

Regarding silver production, for the same month of 2020, the state produced 115,868 tons and 115,774 tons in 2021, registering a decrease of 0.1% in the annual comparison.

Durango repeated in the highest annual variation to the negative with -12.1%; on the other hand, Zacatecas leads the list with a silver production of 7.4% in one year.

Regarding lead, Chihuahua presented a production of 2,710 tons in 2020 and rose to 2,775 tons a year later, which means it grew by 2.4 percent.
