Retail sales of heavy vehicles in Mexico grow by 40%
MEXICO - Retail sales of heavy vehicles increased by 40% in October 2023, equivalent to 4,686 units compared to last year, which corresponds to a variation of 1,347 vehicles, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
According to the results of the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Heavy Vehicles (RAIAVP), published by Inegi, wholesale sales rose by 31% compared to the previous year to 4,651 units, with a variation of 1,111 heavy-duty vehicles.
During the January-October 2023 period, production presented a 13.4% variation compared to the same period in 2022.
The RAIAVP results revealed in its report that out of 186,830 units produced, 180,549 corresponded to cargo vehicles and 6,281 to passenger vehicles.
In addition, Inegi stated that during the January-October 2023 period, 149,066 units were exported, with the United States being the main market with a 95.9% share.
Meanwhile, 2.4% were exported to Canada and 0.6% to Colombia.
Inegi highlighted that exports of heavy vehicles grew by 9.1% compared to the same period in 2022.
