AIFA facilitates cargo operations: Air France-KLM

MEXICO CITY - Mathilde de Rocquigny, director of Air France KLM Martinair Cargo in Mexico, stated that the operation carried out at the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) has facilitated her tasks and those of the logistics companies that operate there.

After announcing the restart of the stopover in Guadalajara for cargo flights taking off from Mexico City, Rocquigny commented that the AIFA provides a large space for companies to operate efficiently, noting that the fleets of vehicles loading and unloading at the air port no longer generate the traffic that used to occur at Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

"It is always difficult to move from one airport to another, but now we can say that it is fine, that customers are already used to it; in addition, times and operations have improved," the director commented.

Since July 2023, the airline moved its cargo operations from AICM to AIFA, following the decree published by the Mexican government. At the time, the airline had predicted that the move would affect its interests.

Currently, Mathilde de Rocquigny stated that it is a plus that the Mexican Armed Forces operate the airport located in Santa Lucia, as this increases the security of the facilities and the personnel operating at the air port.

He stated that he was surprised that the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) operates the air terminal in a good way, "it is something I had never seen before, but I welcome it". On the other hand, he estimated that by 2024, election year in Mexico, the airline industry will not suffer abrupt changes that will affect airport activities.

Following the reactivation of the stopover in Guadalajara, the director pointed out that, for each cargo flight, approximately 80 tons of goods will be transported, most of which are fruits and medicines.
