Chihuahua positions itself on the Semiconductor Route
CHIHUAHUA - After concluding her working tour of the Taiwan region, Governor Maru Campos was able to consolidate the state of Chihuahua as one of the main points of interest in the so-called Semiconductor Route, which includes the states of Arizona and Texas.
As part of her visit to that country, together with a delegation of businessmen from Ciudad Juarez, the state governor made known the competitive advantages that the state has for investments in the semiconductor supply chain, which awakened the interest of Asian corporations to establish themselves in Chihuahua.
In a press conference, she pointed out that the mission of the tour was to promote and attract investment from that region to the border area: to generate agreements to boost commercial development and to show that the state is the national leader in the export of electronic products, with more than 37% of the total.
In this sense, Maru Campos held important meetings with top executives of companies such as United Microelectronics Corporation, one of the main semiconductor producers worldwide, where she explained the potential that Ciudad Juarez has in this area.
In addition, she met with members of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA), which brings together the 200 most important semiconductor companies in Asia, and spoke with executives from Foxconn, Inventec, Pegatron, Winstron, and representatives of companies not yet established in the state.
“Chihuahua has been a favorite destination for investments in the Asian region for more than 30 years,” said the President, who added that the situation derived from Artificial Intelligence and technological expansion at a global level represents an unprecedented opportunity for the state.
She endorsed to the Taiwanese leaders of this sector, that in Chihuahua there is legal certainty, labor peace and tranquility, hydraulic infrastructure, electricity supply, talent development and support for those who seek to contribute to the development of the local economy.
As a result of these efforts, an agreement was signed to train graduates from Chihuahua universities in Taiwan, and an agreement was reached with Foxconn to develop the Anapra sector in terms of improving transportation and safety.
An agreement was also established to train more than 100 employees in the Asian region together with Pegatron, and the construction of a technological campus was proposed, which includes 5 buildings and a hotel on the border.
