Rogelio Garza to be AMIA’s new president
MEXICO - José Rogelio Garza Garza will become the Executive President of the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA), and will take office as of January 10, 2010, after the position was pending to be filled.
The Board of Directors of the AMIA, made up of the 13 automotive brands that comprise it, decided that the former official of the Ministry of Economy will take over the internal negotiations of the automotive industry.
José Rogelio Garza Garza has more than 30 years of experience in the public, private, chamber of commerce and foreign trade sectors.
In the public sector, Rogelio Garza Garza has served as Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce of the Ministry of Economy, as well as various positions in several federal agencies.
Until now, AMIA's general director, Odracir Barquera, was carrying out some of the activities of the presidency, as well as meetings with government and businessmen.
AMIA informed that Barquera will continue with his position as General Director, to complement the work demanded by the private organization.
With the appointment of Rogelio Garza, AMIA reaffirms its commitment to strengthen the positioning of the association and the automotive industry.
"We are confident that Rogelio Garza's experience in foreign trade, institutional relations, international negotiations and industrial processes will be essential in advancing the agendas of the Mexican automotive industry,” said AMIA.
