Baja California concentrates 16% of FDI in Mexico during the first quarter of 2025

During the first quarter of 2025, Baja California captured US$4 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), which represents 16% of the national total, according to figures from the Ministry of Economy. This investment generated more than 19,600 direct jobs in the state.

According to state authorities, these results reflect the interest of global companies in establishing themselves in the region, partly due to the competitive and stable conditions offered by the state.

One of the most outstanding announcements was that of Sempra Energy, a company specialized in energy infrastructure, which plans to invest approximately US$3.5 billion in Baja California.

At a national level, the commerce sector leads FDI attraction with US$11 billion. In this context, Baja California maintains a relevant role due to the volume of investment received and its impact on employment.

The state government has attributed the growth in investment to coordination with different levels of government and joint actions with the federation aimed at strengthening strategic sectors in the region.
