Safran inaugurates sixth plant in Chihuahua

Safran Group's Plant 6, located north of the city of Chihuahua, was inaugurated with a direct investment of approximately US$7 million by the aerospace consortium.

The ceremony was led by Governor Maru Campos, who made the formal declaration accompanied by Safran Group executives, at the new facilities located within the Supra Industrial Park.

The new plant is part of the Safran Aerosystems campus, and is intended to house the operations of different group entities, such as Evacuation Systems and Safran Seats. It is expected to create 229 direct jobs over the next 18 months, in addition to 64 indirect jobs in the areas of security, food and logistics.

With an area of 19,510 m², the plant will house assembly areas, a distribution center, corporate offices, conference rooms and a training center.

During her speech, Governor Maru Campos affirmed that Chihuahua is a reliable ally for industrial investment, and proof of this is that it has the largest Safran workforce in Mexico, with 8,500 employees, which represents approximately 60% of the Group's personnel in the country.

She also highlighted that Chihuahua is a strategic link in the North American aerospace supply chain, which provides certainty in the face of international trade challenges.

For his part, Jorge Acosta, general director of the Safran Aerosystems campus in Chihuahua, emphasized that this plant reflects the group's confidence in Mexican talent. He thanked Governor Maria Eugenia Campos and the State Government, whose support has been key to strengthening Safran's credibility in the region.

Safran Aerosystems CEO Sébastien Weber emphasized the strategic importance of the new plant, which will enable the expansion of evacuation systems production and provide industrial space for other Group companies looking to expand their operations. This includes units such as Oxygen Systems, Safran Seats, Safran Electrical & Power and Safran Cabin.

In the other hand, Alejandro Cardona, president of Safran Mexico, stated that the group is committed to consolidating the alliance between Safran and Mexico, aware of the challenges involved in achieving the objectives towards 2028 in terms of employment and productive capacity. He thanked in particular the Ministry of Economy for facilitating sustainable operational and export conditions.

Mayor Marco Bonilla highlighted the strengthening of a model of collaboration between government, the business sector and academia in the state capital. He affirmed that Chihuahua has prepared and committed people, the most valuable asset for the development of a city.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the attendees toured the new facilities, which are part of Safran's industrial continuity projects in Mexico and are part of its strategy of sustainable operations in the country.

The investment is part of a strategy to strengthen the Group's industrial presence in the region, while assessing the conditions necessary for long-term growth.

With this opening, Safran now has 12 plants in the city of Chihuahua, consolidating its position as one of the state's main employers.

In terms of the environment, the new plant has installed 1,154 solar panels, which will prevent the emission of approximately 500 tons of CO₂ per year, in line with the group's sustainability commitments.
