Nissan and Aguascalientes Support Local Businesses

Nissan Motor Corporation is strengthening its production and supplier development plans in Aguascalientes by assigning the manufacturing of the NP300 pickup truck there. This strategy is part of the latest meeting between Nissan Motor Corporation President and CEO Iván Espinosa and Aguascalientes officials, during which they reviewed the company’s ongoing projects in the state, as well as opportunities to strengthen the regional automotive industry. This decision expands the state’s role within the automaker’s manufacturing operations in Mexico.

The allocation of the NP300 represents one of Nissan’s recent moves to leverage the existing capacity and available talent in the state of Aguascalientes, with a project that expands the company’s manufacturing footprint and keeps operations in the state, thereby strengthening its position within the company’s production structure in Latin America.

This announcement opens up opportunities for local companies hoping to participate in the automaker’s supply chain. Through the State Supplier Development Program, Aguascalientes seeks to enhance the production capabilities of companies in the state so they can meet the automakers’ requirements and expand their participation in the automotive industry.

In addition, automotive companies in Aguascalientes are participating in a program organized in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), through which local companies will be able to travel to Japan to learn about methodologies designed to improve production processes, productivity, and supplier standards.

The collaboration between Nissan, local suppliers, and the international training program positions value chain development as one of the key pillars for expanding the participation of companies from Aguascalientes in the automotive manufacturing sector. The launch of NP300 production offers a new opportunity for regional suppliers to seek to expand their capabilities and become more deeply integrated into the automaker’s operations.
