Mexicana Adds Eighth Embraer Aircraft
Mexicana de Aviación has strengthened its fleet with the arrival of its eighth Embraer aircraft at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), as the state-owned airline continues expanding its domestic operations.
The Embraer E190-E2 arrived from Brazil on August 15 and is the third aircraft of this model incorporated into Mexicana’s fleet. The aircraft, registered as XA-MXH, can carry up to 108 passengers and is designed to improve fuel efficiency while reducing emissions and cabin noise.
The new aircraft is part of a broader plan to acquire 20 Embraer aircraft, which the Mexican government expects will allow Mexicana to expand its network and increase the number of passengers it serves.
Mexicana's management said the additional aircraft will strengthen its operational capacity and help connect more regions across the country. The airline has also been expanding its routes from AIFA, including new connections to destinations such as Zacatecas and Guanajuato.
The fleet expansion comes as the government works toward improving Mexicana's financial performance. President Claudia Sheinbaum has said the airline is expected to reach financial stability once all 20 aircraft are incorporated into its fleet.
