Baja California seeks to strengthen trade ties with South Korea

Baja California's Ministry of Economy and Innovation participated in the “Mexico-Korea Partnership Plus Week” forumc in Mexico City, with the purpose of strengthening cooperation between both countries, promoting new investment opportunities and positioning the state in strategic global markets.
During the event, representatives of the “ProBaja Trade and Investment” initiative held meetings with officials from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and members of the Mexican Association of Secretaries of Economic Development (AMSDE), with whom they discussed possible collaboration projects in sectors such as the electricity industry, advanced manufacturing and information technology.
The forum included business roundtables and exchanges of experiences that highlighted Baja California's potential as an investment destination, in addition to promoting a dialogue on the opportunities arising from the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and Korea.
The Undersecretary of Investment Management, Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo, indicated that the event also allowed the presentation of the talent development strategy implemented in the state in collaboration with educational institutions and the private sector, as well as the advances in the integration of suppliers to strengthen industrial competitiveness in the context of nearshoring.
According to figures from the federal Ministry of Economy, South Korea is the fifth country with the highest foreign direct investment in Baja California, with a 5% share, equivalent to US$124.6 million in 2024.
