Compas announces the closure of its automotive plant in Aguascalientes

The Cooperation Manufacturing Plant (Compas) automotive manufacturing complex, a strategic alliance between Renault-Nissan and Daimler located in the city of Aguascalientes, announced its permanent closure on May 31, 2026.
“We would like to inform you that, due to changes in the dynamics of the automotive market and consumer preferences, the shareholders of Cooperation Manufacturing Plant Aguascalientes (Compas) have decided to conclude operations at this plant on May 31, 2026,” the company said in a statement.
In this context, the firm explained, “the vehicles we assemble have a natural life cycle, so production of Infiniti models will be concluded during November of this year, and production of the Mercedes-Benz model will conclude during May 2026.”
In the note, Compas highlighted its “full financial strength and ability to pay,” which, it said, guarantees the previously agreed-upon ordinary operation.
It added that all its contractual commitments “will be fulfilled in a timely manner, in accordance with current commercial agreements” and said that this process will be accompanied by “constant and transparent communication to provide certainty and address any situation that may arise.”
In November 2015, when the first column of the complex was laid, it was indicated that Compas would be developed on an area of 110 hectares, on the land adjacent to the existing Nissan Aguascalientes A2 manufacturing complex.
The factory had an initial annual production capacity of more than 230,000 vehicles and 3,600 direct jobs.
