Mexico Strengthens Trade Flow

A roughly US$24 million investment is underway to modernize the San Luis Río Colorado customs port, aiming to improve efficiency and strengthen its role as a key logistics hub in northwestern Mexico.

The project focuses on reducing congestion at one of the busiest border crossings, where millions of pedestrians and vehicles pass each year, often facing long wait times.

Upgrades include expanded inspection lanes, new inspection bays, reorganized access points, and the integration of technology to speed up processes without compromising security. The plan also separates vehicle and pedestrian flows to improve mobility and reduce bottlenecks.

With these improvements, the customs facility is expected to enhance cross-border trade between Mexico and the United States, boosting regional competitiveness and economic activity.
