CAAAREM and UIF improve traceability in foreign trade

The Confederation of Customs Brokers' Associations of the Mexican Republic made progress in strengthening control, traceability, and foreign trade mechanisms after establishing direct coordination with the Financial Intelligence Unit, with the aim of improving the integration of documentation for importers and exporters.
Jose Ignacio Zaragoza, president of CAAAREM, held a working meeting with Omar Reyes, head of the FIU at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, where they defined courses of action aimed at improving due diligence, operations, and foreign trade.
This collaboration will allow for more precise identification of operators who comply with regulations, irregularities, and the customs system, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the integrity of the customs and tax systems. CAAAREM emphasized that this framework does not alter legal obligations, professional secrecy, or customs agent responsibilities, but rather adds tools to reinforce their review and validation processes.
The strengthening of mechanisms for control, traceability, and validation of operations is emerging as a key component for the functioning of foreign trade, in a scenario where oversight and legal certainty are becoming increasingly important for the companies and authorities involved.
