Nuevo Leon: In the finishing stages of its new Volvo plant

The Volvo Group is in the final stages of preparing to begin manufacturing operations in the municipality of Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon, where it will invest US$1 billion in the production of state-of-the-art vehicles for the North American market.
Following the conclusion of the working visit by Nuevo Leon officials to Stockholm, it was confirmed that the industrial megacomplex—projected to be the corporation’s largest facility worldwide—has completed its main civil construction phase and has entered the technical testing phase for machinery and industrial equipment.
The new plant covers an area of over 200,000 square meters and is focused on producing vehicles under the Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks brands, with the capacity to strengthen specialized heavy-duty freight transport manufacturing in Mexico.
The operation of this plant is part of Nuevo Leon’s industrial expansion strategy in the sectors of advanced manufacturing, automation, and specialized transportation, leveraging its proximity to the United States and the regional integration of supply chains.
The group operates international heavy-duty transport brands such as Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, Renault Trucks, and UD Trucks, while maintaining a strategy focused on transport decarbonization, electrification, digital connectivity, and the development of next-generation industrial mobility solutions.
