Mexicana de Aviacion adds to its fleet & aims growth by 2027

The state-owned airline Mexicana de Aviacion is moving forward with its consolidation process with the addition of its sixth state-of-the-art Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which will enable it to strengthen its operational capacity, expand its network of destinations, and serve millions of passengers in the coming years. By the end of 2025, the company had taken delivery of its first five Embraer E195-E2 aircraft at Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA), formally marking the start of its new fleet’s integration.

As part of its expansion plan, the company anticipates the arrival ofseven additional Embraer E190-E2 aircraft during the second half of 2026.

The fleet renewal process will continue in 2027, when the final eight aircraft are expected to be delivered: three E190s and five E195s. With this, Mexicana will complete the addition of 20 aircraft acquired from the Brazilian company Embraer, establishing itself as Mexico’s leading operator of the E2 family.

One of the main benefits of this new fleet lies in its operational efficiency; the aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art engines that enable fuel savings of up to 30%, as well as a 35% reduction in maintenance costs.

This growth will also have a significant impact on job creation. It is estimated that approximately 2,100 direct jobs and more than 8,000 indirect jobs will be created, which will contribute to the development of the aviation sector and economic recovery in various regions of Mexico.
