Trade Mexico-USA reaches US$839 billion

President Claudia Sheinbaum noted that trade between Mexico and the United States reached a record high of US$839 billion, highlighting that exports—including those to other countries—reached a record high of US$723 billion.
In this context, the president said that Mexico is the country with the most trade with the United States; despite the protectionist stance that President Donald Trump has imposed on his trade policy, bilateral economic integration remains substantial.
She also noted that yesterday the European Parliament approved the update to the free trade agreement between Mexico and the European Union.
For his part, Finance Secretary Edgar Amador highlighted other economic indicators, emphasizing that, according to a report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Mexico is the country that has seen the greatest recovery in purchasing power among its member nations since 2021.
Amador also mentioned the decline in the inflation rate, which now stands at 3.6%, bringing it closer to the World Bank’s target of 3%.
He added that last year, the IMF projected that Mexico would experience a recession, but in the end, the Mexican economy recorded slight growth.
