Yucatan is undergoing an industrial transformation with 88 projects.

With an investment portfolio of 88 projects totaling US$8.7 million, Yucatán hopes to transition from an economy based on tourism, commerce, and services to diversified industrial development, said the state’s governor, Joaquín Díaz Mena.

During a meeting, the president noted that the portfolio includes projects in 23 sectors across 24 municipalities, which are expected to generate 79,289 direct and indirect jobs.

In the energy sector, investments total more than US$2 million, while the port sector has US$1,556 billion, the real estate sector has US$851 million, and finally, the beverage sector has more than US$598 million.

Some of the sectors are already at advanced stages, such as the Heineken plant, with an investment of US$500 million, as well as the ShineGreen Energy solar panel assembly plant, with a projected investment of US$221 million.

Similarly, there is the construction of the Ibero-American University campus, at a cost of US$144 million, and the case of Walmart, which has invested US$110 million in two new stores.

Finally, among the infrastructure projects, those related to electricity stand out as strategic for the development of the others.

The state government has been promoting five other complementary industrial corridors focused on information and communications technology, cybersecurity, electromobility, logistics, distribution, semiconductors, and the maritime sector.

The governor has stated that one of the state's main challenges in meeting its economic development goals lies in developing human talent.
