Development of Mexico’s S-45 continues
The S-45 unmanned aerial vehicle, developed in Mexico by Hydra Technologies, is still in the process of being marketed, with a focus on the NATO and Middle East markets through the Turkish company Firestar.
During the recent International Airshow in Farnborough, United Kingdom, the latest development of the ASU45 aircraft was unveiled—a version of the same aircraft manufactured in Turkey—in which all the technology on display is Mexican, with the company handling manufacturing and marketing, as well as the entire line of military equipment, including smart glide bombs, a high-speed attack aircraft, and an SDP air-to-air interceptor capable of shooting down attack drones.
Firestar Systems is an aerospace and defense technology company headquartered in Anarka, Turkey. Founded in 2023, the company specializes in the design and manufacture of intelligent systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The ASU-45 is a tactical unmanned aerial system (TUAS) with twin reciprocating engines, designed to provide persistent ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) capabilities day and night in the world’s most challenging environments. It is worth noting that all the aeronautical technology and aircraft control systems used in this model are Mexican designs.
The system used is a multi-mission platform that can be equipped with state-of-the-art payloads, such as state-of-the-art EO/IR sensors, synthetic aperture radars, IMSI interceptors, and radio repeaters, etc., designed to operate in areas with limited infrastructure.
