Index Mexicali Will Capitalize on Growth in Aerospace Production
With the Mexico Plan, aerospace industry production in Mexico could grow between 15% and 20% over the next four years, thanks to the introduction of new production processes and technology transfers that will be developed by domestic suppliers, according to Salvador Mase Barraza, president of the Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industry (Index) in Mexicali.
In an interview with Milenio network, the executive reportedly stated that, given the new regionalization of production, Mexico has the opportunity to capture a larger share of the international aerospace manufacturing market.
“I believe that, by investing in it—and especially if we implement Plan Mexico, which is essentially the call I’m making: that we move from dialogue to action—we can achieve growth of between 15 and 20 percent, which is a great deal for the four years remaining in this administration,” he said.
Given this situation, one of Index Mexicali’s goals is to promote the arrival of new projects, as well as to ensure the continued presence and expansion of companies already operating in Baja California.
Maese Barraza has more than six decades of experience in aviation-related manufacturing, which enables the development of specialized talent and the consolidation of an industrial base to take on projects with higher value added.
Similarly, the entrepreneur has identified opportunities in services related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of aircraft—segments of great importance and potential within the industry.
