Aguascalientes Attracts US$3.5 Billion in Investments and Expansions

Aguascalientes has attracted 86 new investments and secured business expansions totaling more than US$3.5 billion during the current state administration, according to results presented by Esaú Garza de Vega, Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology (SEDECYT), to the Aguascalientes Industrialists Group (GIA).

The official reported that the state recorded US$520.2 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the second quarter of 2026, representing a 31.8% increase compared with the same period last year. He also noted that exports reached US$3,447.1 million.

The results were presented at a GIA meeting, where Garza de Vega highlighted progress in the state’s economic policy, particularly in investment attraction, business development, strategic infrastructure, and access to international markets.

Regarding economic promotion, the secretary stated that 15 international business meetings had been held in 2026 to generate business opportunities and expand the presence of Aguascalientes-based companies in foreign markets.

On strategic infrastructure, Garza de Vega highlighted several initiatives, including the Digital Investment Portal, which provides access to 61 procedures, as well as the C3NTRO Telecom Data Center, the Semiconductor Design Laboratory, and the Safe Stop for Truckers.

These projects are part of the state government’s efforts to improve business conditions and address production, technology, and logistics needs.

The meeting also addressed the Centro Aguascalientes Global project, designed to serve as a hub for international business partnerships. According to Garza de Vega, the initiative will work with the Aguascalientes Industrialists Group (GIA), the Aguascalientes Industrial Cluster (CLIA), the MAEN group, and the Aguascalientes Automotive Industrial Group (GIRAA).

The initiative aims to attract new investments, help companies access international markets, and continuously monitor business opportunities.

The GIA meeting also featured a report from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) on the 2025 Intercensal Survey, along with a presentation by Jorge Armando Llamas Esparza on Aguascalientes’ energy capabilities.
