BeijingWest Industries (BWI), a Chinese manufacturer of brake and suspension systems, currently works on a US$ 30 million expansion at its manufacturing facility in the city of Chihuahua, state capital, local authorities revealed in a press conference attended by Craig Diem, the company’s Global Director of Manufacturing Operations.
Along with the expansion, 100 job positions will be opened by the end of year increasing the plant’s total workforce to 700 employees.
In 2009, BWI acquired the suspension business of Delphi Chassis Systems when the Tier 1 auto supplier went bankrupt.
One of the company’s most profitable products is the high-end MagneRide suspension, which incorporates a specialized fluid into the vehicle’s four shock absorbers. It’s controlled electronically, instead of by the valves or moving parts on traditional shock absorbers, making it the fastest and most responsive suspension system in the world.
The company manufactures other suspension systems, including passive shock absorbers and air suspension products. Its customer portfolio includes GM, Ford, Land Rover and BMW.
