MEXICO — The US government will carry out a commercial mission to Mexico in order to forge new opportunities in the agricultural industry, said the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). "The minister of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue will lead a trade mission to Mexico from November 6th to 8th in order to forge new opportunities," the USDA said in a statement. The USDA noted that the Mexican market has been one of the main markets for US exporters, but now the treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC), promises to unlock even greater opportunities. According to USDA data, during the last decade, US agricultural exports to Mexico grew 48%, (US$19 billion in 2018); turning Mexico into the second largest export market for US agricultural products, after Canada. It should be noted that Mexico was the United States’ main export market in 2018 regarding corn, dairy products, poultry and eggs; sugars, sweeteners, dried distillery grains and rice.
