AICM remodeling works begin

The remodeling of Mexico City's International Airport (AICM) will begin soon as part of an airport modernization plan, announced President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. Additionally, US$1.7 billion will be allocated to carry out improvement works at 60 concessioned airports throughout the country.

During the presentation of “Plan Mexico, strengthening the economy and welfare”, the Federal President said that the works at the airports of Puerto Escondido and Tepic were completed, with public and private investment.

The Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR), through the AICM, announced the winning companies for the contracts Integral Project for the remodeling of Terminal 1 of the Benito Juarez Mexico City International Airport, Integral Project for the remodeling of Terminal 2 of the Benito Juarez Mexico City International Airport, as well as the Supervision of the Integral Project for the remodeling of Terminals 1 and 2 of the Benito Juarez Mexico City International Airport.

Through a press release, SEMAR stated that the National Direct Award Procedures AO-09-KDN-009KDN002-N-15-2025 and AO-09-KDN-009KDN002-N-16-2025 for the contracting of the works related to the Integral Projects for the remodeling of Terminals 1 and 2 of the Benito Juarez Mexico City International Airport, were assigned to the company Autovia Golfo Centro, S.A. de CV.

In joint participation with Desarrolladora de Infraestructura, S.A. de C.V., Controladora de Operaciones de Infraestructura, S.A. de C.V., and ICA Constructora, S.A. de C.V., for an amount of US$80.6 million 72/100 M.N., VAT included, in the case of Terminal 1 and US$53.8 million 02/100 M.N., VAT included, for Terminal 2, upon determining that the proposals submitted comply with the requirements and guarantee the completion of the works.

While by National Direct Award procedure AO-09-KDN-009KDN002-N-14-2025, for the contracting of the works for the Supervision of the Integral Project for the remodeling of Terminals 1 and 2 of the Benito Juarez Mexico City International Airport, the company Ayesa Mexico, S.A. de C.V., was awarded the contract for US$5.3 million 21/100 M.N., VAT included, as it was determined that the proposal complies to satisfaction and guarantees the completion of the works in the agreed times.

In accordance with the stipulations of the respective contracts, the works, both construction and supervision, began on April 1, 2025 and will be paused from May 31 to July 31, 2026, due to the celebration of the FIFA 2026 World Cup, restarting the works from August 1 to November 17 of the same year.
