AICM reports 40% progress on its renovation

The Marina Airport Group reports that the comprehensive renovation of Mexico City International Airport (AICM) is 40% complete, thanks to the various construction projects underway in Terminals 1 and 2 of the country’s main airport complex.
To mark this milestone, a reopening ceremony was held, led by the Secretary of the Navy, Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Angeles; during the ceremony, four remodeled areas were simultaneously put into operation, incorporating state-of-the-art technology in both terminals.
Speaking at the event, Admiral Juan Jose Padilla Olmos, CEO of Grupo Aeroportuario Marina, stated that this event reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to efficient operations, safety, and the modernization of Mexico’s oldest airport.
In this context, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in Terminal 1 for the South Hall B, which covers an area of approximately 2,000 square meters and has a capacity for 626 passengers.
In addition, the facades of Gates 1, 2, and 3 were reopened, along with their concourse and baggage claim areas 1 through 3; the waiting areas for Gates 12 and 13 were also renovated. With regard to security and immigration control, automated screening gates (E-GATES) were installed in the immigration area of Terminal 1 and at the two passenger inspection points in Terminal 2. Additionally, new document validation equipment was installed to streamline and enhance passenger screening.
