AT&T announced that it will venture into the connected car industry in Mexico in partnership with Kia Motors. Through the Internet of Things technology, the telecommunications company will connect the recovery service of the new 2019 KIA Forte. This connectivity solution will be integrated into “MyKIA +”, a mobile application developed by the Korean automaker.

MyKIA + will be the platform that will give visibility to the tracking system that KIA will implement in its next releases, starting with the 2019 Forte.

Among the tools that the platform will offer is Find My KIA, which allows to track the vehicle at any time, as well as delimiting virtual driving areas assigned by the user.

In case of theft, it will be a support for the location of the vehicle through an agency dedicated to the recovery of cars.

To offer this service, AT&T will make use of its Control Center platform, designed to facilitate the administration of IoT solutions. This way, RESSER, the satellite tracking company that provides the vehicle recovery service, will be able to know almost in real time the location of the cars, thus speeding up the search process.

The application will be available for free as of this month for the Android operating system and soon for IOS.
