ECI announces arrival in Coahuila

The US company Electrical Components International (ECI) will set up a plant in Torreón, Coahuila, with an investment of around US$32.5 million and the creation of 1,200 direct jobs.
ECI, which manufactures electrical distribution systems for the automotive and transportation industries, is thus expanding its presence in Mexico and strengthening the development of the La Laguna industrial corridor.
The new plant will be built with the support of the state and municipal governments, as well as the Pro Coahuila promotion agency. During the presentation of the project, company representatives highlighted that coordination with local authorities has facilitated its arrival.
Luis Noé González, president of ECI's Transportation Business Unit in North America, said that the decision to invest in Torreón was based on factors such as the region's stability, security, and skilled workforce.
Coahuila's Secretary of Economy, Luis Olivares Martínez, said that Torreón has established itself as a strategic location for the manufacturing industry in the north of the country.
According to state government data, ECI's investment is part of the US$8.1 billion in national and international capital that has come to Coahuila in recent years, driven by industrial growth in La Laguna.
