GM to stop selling its Beat and Spark models in Mexico
MEXICO – General Motors announced the end of the commercialization in Mexico of the Chevrolet Beat and Chevrolet Spark models, as well as the Equinox SUV.
In a press release, GM explained that the strategy is part of the changes it has made worldwide to consolidate its global presence, focusing on key markets and aligning itself with more dynamic segments.
It was also reported that the Chevrolet Beat model, in particular, ceased production due to the recent sale of the manufacturing plant that produced it for Mexico, located in Talegaon, India.
With this strategy, the company will prioritize the production of those vehicles whose segment is most dynamic in the North American region, such as the Onix, Aveo and Cavalier models.
It is worth mentioning that in order to provide security to its Mexican customers who own one of these units, the Chevrolet dealer network will continue to be available to provide service and spare parts.
The warranties of customers with any of these vehicles will also remain valid.
Finally, the automaker assured that it will continue to strengthen its portfolio and offerings to meet the new market needs, because although some models will cease production, other launches will follow soon.
